About Ms. Luning
I love teaching second grade, especially at Oak Grove! I began working at Oak Grove while I was getting my teaching credential. I knew I wanted classroom experience, so began as a classroom assistant in Peggy Heil's class. I completed my student teaching with two incredible master teachers. Ginny Spencer and Cheryl Davis. Finally, after a short temporary job teaching at Harmony School, I was hired to work as a classroom teacher at Oak Grove. This is now my 15th year as a full time teacher. I truly appreciate the entire community and can't imagine teaching anywhere else.
Personal Life
My family moved to Sonoma County when I was 12 years old and, except for a two year stint in Connecticut, I never left (except to travel). I love the redwoods, the river, and the community. As a former Forestville student, I remember cheering on our sports teams as we played against Oak Grove. (I have since traded allegiances, of course).
I am married to Michael Luning. He is a CPS realtor, a private pilot, and a musician. My son, David, is also a singer/songwriter/musician. He plays Americana/rock music solo, or with his band, The David Luning Band. You will often find us in the audience.
